That Time of Year

I changed the look of things for this festive season.  My post from last year about good Halloween movies is getting lots of hits from search engines; you can check it out here.  I wouldn’t change it much and if you’re looking for something Halloweeny to watch this month… um… watch something from my list.

I’m dressing up as The Joker this year.  Last year I was Indiana Jones, before that the Dread Pirate Roberts.  I’ve done a Jedi, a vampire, a ghost, Superman, an Ethiopian eunach, a ghost, an Ewok, a monk, Data from Star Trek, a ghost.

I bought a woman’s purple pantsuit from Value Village on the weekend.  The fit isn’t quite right because I’m not a woman and neither is The Joker, but it’s close enough.  I did a test run of the clown makeup Sunday night.  Looks great, not easily washed off.  I’m pretty sure I’m going to have raccoon eyes for work the next day.

This weekend we’re heading back to Prince Edward County for an old-fashioned Thanksgiving with my family.  We’ve rented a cottage and we’re going to pretend that we’re the kind of family that rents cottages for Thanksgiving.  Jordan has already been adamant about not playing any board games, but Thea has accumulated a collection that we almost never use so… maybe we can pretend to be a family that can play board games without ferocious competitiveness (lest we relive Christmas of ‘05).

On Sunday we were flipping through TV channels and we came across the opening credits of The King and I.  To my confusion Thea said, “You know who would have been good as the king in this movie?  The pharaoh from The Ten Commandments.”
